This summer has been an amazing journey for me in Israel, starting with my Birthright trip in May and followed by an internship with IZZY – Stream Israel in June and July. I feel incredibly lucky to have had this experience, which has opened my eyes and taught me so much.
During Birthright, I had the opportunity to learn about Jewish history and the history of Israel, and it was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Exploring the ancient city of Jerusalem and witnessing landmarks like the Dead Sea and Masada left a lasting impression on me. It was a fulfilling experience that deepened my understanding of the Jewish people and our connection to this land.
Then came my internship at IZZY – Stream Israel, which focused on contemporary Israeli culture through film. Every day, I had the chance to discover a new film and explore different aspects of Israeli society. This internship has had a profound impact on me as a film major. IZZY’s extensive collection of films and TV shows introduced me to the artistic narratives of Israeli cinema, which has further fueled my passion for film.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was the chance to immerse myself in the local community. I spent my summer exploring the vibrant city of Tel Aviv. I got to experience the culture, food, markets, beach, and fun events that were happening every week. Every moment was an opportunity to absorb the sights, sounds, and flavors of Israeli culture. This firsthand experience has given me a deeper appreciation for the diverse and dynamic nature of Israel.
Looking back, my journey in Israel has been a life-changing experience. As a film major, this opportunity has not only expanded my knowledge of Israeli culture but has also ignited a passion for Israeli cinema. I am incredibly grateful for the chance to have such a profound experience in Israel. The memories and lessons I have gained will stay with me forever. I am confident that the experiences and connections I made during my internship will shape my path as a film major in college and beyond.
